To cast farther hold the device forward and let the pole move down before letting go of the line.
If downloading the additional data won't start, it's probably because you don't have a memory card in your phone. It will say if external storage is available on the download screen. The extra data is all of the ambient background audio and music.
If the rod doesn't move then your accelerometer isn't working on your phone and you should get that checked out.
Finally, you can only keep the 3 biggest fish in tournaments. If you already have 3 fish the smallest one will be thrown back. There are many people who think the game isn't keeping track correctly who are not aware of this.
